Clashes in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor claim lives of SDF fighters

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, two Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members lost their lives in clashes with unidentified armed men in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The unidentified attackers opened fire on an SDF patrol near the village of Tawaniya north of Deir ez-Zor leading to clashes with machineguns for over 20 minutes, a military source of the SDF in the town of al-Suwar, 45 kilometer north of Deir ez-Zor.

The clashes caused the death of two SDF members, while attackers managed to run away, the source added.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

Two days ago, the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), through close outlets, claimed responsible for assassinating an SDF fighter in the town of Shuhail east of Deir ez-Zor.
