Turkish plans target AANES in NE Syria – Syriac parties
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Political Syria parties and powers in northeast Syria condemned on Friday the Turkish policies against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The Syriac Women Union, the Syriac Union Party in Syria, the Syriac National Council in Syria, the Syriac Progressive Youth Union, the Syriac Cultural Association in Syria, and Center for the Syriac Strategic Studies issued a joint statement condemning the Turkish project to resettle about one million Syrian refugees in areas seized by Turkey in northern Syria.
The Turkish plans target all Syrian communities including the Kurds, Arab, Syriac, Assyrians and others who founded the AANES, the statement read.
“Turkey adopts hostile policies against all residents of the region. Its policies fall under the title of war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the statement added.
Turkey is implementing the Turkification policy and the demographic change in all areas it runs in Syria, according to the statement.
The parties affirmed that they stand side by side with all democratic forces and communities against these threats.
The statement called on the international community to stop the Turkish military operations in northeast Syria and stop the Turkish project that aims to construct settlements in the Syrian north.
It also called for “ending the Turkish occupation of the areas north Syria and guarantee the return of the original inhabitants to their areas under international supervision.”
It stressed the need to pay more efforts to activate the political solution based on the UN Resolution 2254 and guarantee a safe return for all Syrians to their areas.
The parties concluded the statement calling for supporting the AANES at different fields including the political, military, and economical and reconstruction.
