In week…six individuals killed in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) –  This week fewer number of security incidents and killings were recorded in Daraa and its countryside, south of Syria, in comparison to previous weeks.

Six civilians including two children were killed in different parts of the province during the current week.

Residents of Daraa attributed the decrease in the rate of the security incidents to the killing of a member of the military security by members of the Russian-backed Eighth Brigade, which is accused of carrying out many murders against former opposition members.

On May 5, Nidal al-Shaabin, member of the Military Security branch of the government forces, in the village of Saida in the eastern countryside of Daraa in a raid carried out by the forces of the Eighth Brigade.

Members of the Eighth Brigade broadcasted audio clips proving the involvement of al-Shaabin in many killings.

On Tuesday, local sources told North Press, that Adnan Ibrahim Muslim, nicknamed Adnan Al-Sheikh, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Jassim city in the northern countryside of Daraa.

On May 9,  Najib Naji al-Ali was killed by unknown individuals on al-Shajara-Bit Ara road in Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, according to local sources.

Al-Ali was a civilian who has never joined any military formations, and the reasons for his death have been unknown so far.

On the same day a former opposition member was killed by unknown individuals in the eastern countryside of Daraa, a local source told North Press.

On May 8, two children died  in a landmine explosion left by Syrian government forces in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Muhammad al-Masri and Abdo al-Masri died due to the explosion of the landmine in the town of al-Faqee’, north of Daraa, a local source told North Press.
