Opposition kills, wounds 20 government forces in Aleppo region
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Twenty members of the Syrian government forces were killed and wounded on Friday in a direct targeting of a military bus by the Syrian opposition factions in the western countryside of Aleppo.
A military source of al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations’ Room said that a group of the Islamic Ahrar al-Sham targeted a military bus picking up military members of the government forces near Base 111 west of Aleppo with a Kornet missile.
As a result, about 15 members were killed and over ten others were injured in addition to setting the targeted bus on fire, according to the source.
Meanwhile, pro-government outlets said that the bus, which was picking members of what they described as Local Defense of the government forces, was targeted killing 12 members and wounding 14 others.
During the past few days, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed military escalation and intensive mutual shelling between the government forces and factions of the Syrian opposition in different areas.
The escalation came in tandem with intermittent Russian airstrikes on other areas.
