Syria’s Aleppo region restricted with series of Turkish violations
ALEPPO COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Areas-held by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions in the northern countryside of Aleppo continue to witness a series of daily violations on flimsy charges.
The violation include imposing ransoms alongside with infighting between the opposition factions in light of the ongoing chaos and destabilization.
During April, the Violations Documentation Center in northern Syria (VDC-NSY) documented 42 arrests in the city of Afrin and its villages, north of Aleppo bringing the total toll to 226 individuals since early 2022.
The number of the women detained in prisons of the factions has risen to 26 since early this year. 14 of which were released after paying ransoms to leaders of these factions while the fate of the rest is still unknown, according to VDC-NSY.
On May 3, the VDC-NSY documented the arrest of the 35-year-old Arin Fakhri Muslim from the village of Shitka in Ma’batli district in the countryside of Afrin at a checkpoint of the opposition factions without knowing the real reason for the arrest.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Thursday that two brothers from the village of Kafr Safra in Jindires district were badly beaten by Islamic Ahrar al-Sham faction for interrupting the route of the armed members.
In early May, Shames Baaj, a member of the Turkish-backed Military Police, attacked a resident of Rajo district in the countryside of Afrin because he refused to pay royalty while passing at a checkpoint with his car loading firewood, an exclusive source told North Press.
It is noteworthy to say that April witnessed eight infighting in the Turkish-held areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, according to VDC-NSY.
On May 1, an exclusive source told North Press Zakaria Hamidi, a member of public relations in the Islamic Ahrar al-Sham faction, was killed when an explosive device, which was placed inside his car, exploded in the Dakarat neighborhood in the eastern city of Jarablus.
The Turkish forces and the affiliated factions successively targeted the northern countryside of Aleppo within the first week of May, but no casualties were recorded.
On Friday, Turkey renewed the shelling of the villages of Nayrabiya, Tel Enab, Radar, Khirbat Shaalah, Tel Zoyan, Tel Rahhal, Kharbashah and Samoqa with scours of artillery shells.
The Turkish forces targeted the aforementioned villages from their military bases located in the villages of Thalthana and Hazwan west of the city of al-Bab in the countryside of Aleppo, a local source told North Press.
The bombardment caused material losses in the uninhabited houses and a number of lands reporting no casualties.
On Wednesday, the Turkish forces and the Syrian opposition factions hit the village of Shawargha in Sharan district in the countryside of Afrin leaving material losses in the residents’ houses.
On the same day, the outskirts of the villages of Aqiba and Ibbin affiliated with Sherawa district were also targeted, but no civil or material losses were reported.
On May 4, the Turkish forces from their bases in the town of Mare’, south Azaz, Kimar, and Maryamin launched a fierce shelling against the villages of Qantare, Soghanake, and the outskirts of Ibbin in Sherawa district south of Afrin.
