46 detainees from Daraa released by Syrian government

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian authorities released a batch of detainees from Daraa governorate, south of Syria, on Thursday.

46 detainees from Daraa, all of whom were in Adra Prison, were released by the Syrian authorities, local sources told North Press.

Most of those released spent no more than three years in the prison, according to the same sources.

Residents of Daraa expressed their happiness at the detainees’ release, considering it at the same time anesthetic needles, as they did not those who have been in the government’s prisons for more than ten years.

They pointed out that most of those released were accused of criminal offenses and drug trafficking, and had nothing to do with the popular protests that erupted against the government in March 2011.

The detainees’ file is one of the most outstanding issues in the reconciliation reached by the government forces officers and representatives of the Central Committees in Daraa with a Russian guarantee in 2018. The government promised at the time to reveal the fate of the detainees immediately , but this has not been done to date.
