Turkish shells on areas in NE Syria precluded residents celebrating Eid al-Fitr
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions’ violation of the ceasefire agreement precluded the residents of the areas on the lines of contact in northeast Syria, celebrating Eid al-Fitr peacefully.
In October 2019, following the Turkish invasion of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad in northeast Syria, Turkey signed a ceasefire agreement with the Russian and American sides.
On the eve of Eid al-Fitr, intense shooting, as a result of disputes between members of the Military Police and some gunmen of the opposition factions, caused a state of fear and panic among the residents in the center of the city of Sere Kaniye.
Similarly, the town of Tel Tamr and its countryside, and Ain Issa, northeast Syria, witnessed during the days of Eid-al-Fitr flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement, amid the silence of the Russian guarantor in the area, according to what North Press monitored.
Since the beginning of 2022, the frequent Turkish bombing of populated areas has caused significant material damage to public and private facilities, in addition to the continuation of the insecurity in Turkish-controlled areas, amid the population’s discontent.
