Casualties, wounded reported in tribal infighting in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A man was killed and five others were wounded on Friday in a tribal infighting in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
On the back of an old vendetta, a tribal fight with light and medium weaponry erupted between two families of al-Shaitat killing one and wounding five others, a source from the town of Abu Hamam, 85 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press.
The wounded were transferred to hospitals for treatment and they were in good health, according to the source.
The infighting had lasted for hours since morning.
Yesterday, a young man of al-Rifa’i family was killed by unidentified individuals and al-Marsoum family was accused of the killing based on an old vendetta.
As a result, clashes between the two families erupted.
Residents appealed to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in order to intervene and settle the dispute and stop bloodshed between the two parties.
This coincided with an IED explosion in a car picking SDF fighters in the town of Gharanij, 90 KM east of Deir ez-Zor. However, no casualties were reported.
Two individuals were wounded, two month ago, in a tribal infighting over an old vendetta in Gharanij.
