Government allows flour into Syria’s Aleppo besieged neighborhoods

ALEPPEO, Syria (North Press) – Limited amounts of flour entered on Thursday to the besieged neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh in Aleppo governorate, north Syria, following a 24-day seige.

An official in Sheikh Maqsoud told North Press about 32 tons of flour entered to the besieged neighborhoods in Aleppo in the afternoon on Thursday.

“The quantities of flour allowed into the neighborhoods are sufficient to produce residents’ need of bread only for one day,” the official said.

He added saying that the seven bakeries in those neighborhoods will resume their work today in order for “the residents to obtain bread tomorrow morning.”

The 4th Armored Division of the Syrian government forces has been banning flour and other basics from entering to both neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and for over 23 days.

As a result, bakeries in the aforementioned neighborhoods stopped and residents were forced to resort to areas held by the government to obtain bread and their basics.
