Women’s gathering condemns Turkish shelling of NE Syria
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) –Zenobia Women’s Gathering in the city of Manbij, north Syria, condemned on Thursday in a statement the Turkish shelling and violation in northeast Syria.
In a statement read in front of the gathering’s building with the attendance of employees in the civil administration and representatives of political parties, the Zenobia Women’s Gathering condemned the Turkish practices specially the recent shelling of Manbij countryside.
Since early this week, Turkish forces and the Syrian opposition factions backed by Turkey have escalated the bombardment including drone attacks against the countryside of Manbij and frontlines between Manbij Military Council (MMC) and the armed factions.
“The recent Turkish shelling targeted civilians indiscriminately,” Nesrin al-Ali, spokeswoman of the Zenobia Women’s gathering in Manbij told North Press.
“Turkey, through intensifying the shelling, aims to terrorize civilians in order to force them to flee their villages and houses and create chaos,” al-Ali added.
“continues to violate the international ceasefire agreements unchecked.”
“Since the international community remains silent, it will go ahead committing further violations and cutting more Syrian parts near the border strip under the pretext of fighting terrorism,” she noted.
According to her, countries that call for human rights should protect the unarmed civilians throughout northeast Syria against the “increasing Turkish violations and crimes”.
