Iraq’s National Security discusses Hawl camp with US delegation

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – The Iraqi National Security Council (INSC) and a US delegation discussed on Tuesday in Baghdad the Hawl camp issue, and the repatriation of the foreigners.

The Hawl camp is home for nearly 57,000 individuals of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) family members.

This came during a meeting that brought together Iraq’s National Security Adviser, Qasim al-Araji, with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, Dana Stroul, accompanied by her delegation, and the US Ambassador in Baghdad, Matthew H. Tueller.

Al-Araji necessitated the issue of perusing and pressuring ISIS as it still poses a serious threat on the region and the world, according to a statement issued by his office after the meeting.

On her part, Stroul emphasized on repatriating the camp-based ISIS foreign nationals to their own countries and having them stand trial there.

The US would support this approach in the ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance and Coalition Against ISIS, which will be held in Morocco.
