Guarantors should stop Turkish escalation against NE Syria – tribal leader

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) Guarantor states, mainly the US and Russia, should take strict stances to force Turkey to cease military escalation on northeast Syria, a tribal figure from the city of Manbij in northern Syria said Wednesday.

“The recent Turkish escalation against areas in northeast Syria has targeted the residents in the first place and in plain sight of the world community,” Fahad Shalash, notable of Al Bani Sa’eed tribe in Manbij said.

For two weeks, Turkey has scaled up the bombardment of areas in northeast Syria especially in Kobani city, the countryside of Manbij and the majority of the villages in Zarkan town in Hasakah

Shalash asserted “Turkey claims it supports the Syrians, while in reality it exploits every chance to bite more Syrian territories on the pretext that it protects its national security and counters terrorism.”

“The two pretexts are used by Turkey to justify its crimes, violations and the demographic changes it carries out in the areas it occupies,” he added.
