Asayish arrest firearms traders in northeast Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) said on Tuesday that they arrested two armed groups. One group traded in firearms in the town of Hazima in the northern countryside of Raqqa, while the other one was an aggravated robbery gang in Manbij.
The Asayish of northeast Syria prevent arms trading, and impose specific conditions for the individuals to possess firearms.
Following monitoring and collecting information, the Asayish arrested three people who sold ammunition to citizens, the Asayish said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Anti-Crime members raided the gunmen’s places and arrested them. A quantity of ammunition estimated at four thousand Kalashnikov bullets they had was seized. The gunmen then were transferred to the Public Prosecution.
In a separate statement, the Asayish said that it arrested an aggravated robbery gang in Manbij, north Syria.
The Asayish said in the statement that they arrested six people carrying firearms. They also seized firearms warehouses, mobile phones, identification papers and sales contracts belonging to the owners of the houses that were robbed, according to the statement.
