Casualties reported in ISIS attack on Iraq’s al-Anbar
ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – An attack carried out by members of the Islamic State (ISIS) on an Iraqi military post in al-Anbar region, in the early hours of Tuesday, which killed two soldiers and wounded others.
A source who preferred anonymity told North Press that the attack took place in the city of Hit northeastern Anbar.
The injured soldiers were hospitalized and one of them had critical injuries, the source said.
The Security forces keep on conducting searching operations in the targeted area to hunt the attackers, the source added.
Meanwhile, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which is a part of the Iraqi Army, announced on overnight that it thwarted an assault attempt on the groups participating in the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) in al-Anbar.
On April 23, the Iraqi Joint Command announced the launch of the second phase the operation “Solid Will” in several Iraqi governorates.
In late March, the Iraqi forces launched the first phase of the operation, aiming to clear vast lands of the country from ISIS sleeper cells.
