Government forces’ defector killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a former defector from the government forces was killed by unknown persons in the western countryside of Daraa, south Syria.
“Atallah Ahmad al-Jabr, a defector from the government forces, was killed after at hands of unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle on the outskirts of the town of al-Yadouda in the western countryside of Daraa,” local sources told North Press.
“While working on farmland, al-Jabr was shot and then was taken to the National Hospital in the city of Daraa, but he died there,” the sources said.
“Al-Jabr, who came from the town of Kharab al-Shahem in the western countryside of Daraa, defected from the government forces in 2012. He then in 2018 reconciled with the government forces,” the sources added.
Despite the government forces’ complete control of Daraa and despite the reconciliation, the governorate witnesses almost daily killings of civilians, government soldiers and former opposition factions’ members.
