Turkey launches new military offensive on NE Syria’s Tel Tamr

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Turkish artillery targeted a number of villages in the countryside of Zarkan (Abu Rasin), a town north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

The targeted villages are Dada Abdal, Khirbet al-Sha’ir, al-Boubi, and al-Asadiya, in the northern and southern countryside of Abu Rasin town, a local source told North Press.

The bombing caused material damage to the residents’ property, but no information about casualties or injuries were reported, according to the source.

On April 18, the Turkish shelling hit the vicinity of the villages and towns of al-Asadiya, Nowihat, Dardara, Safa, Boba, and Rabi’at in Zarkan, as well as, three shells landed in a-Khadrawi and al-Asadiya farm.

The Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions have violated the ceasefire agreement more than ten times this week, despite the presence of the Russian guarantor in the area.

Following the Turkish invasion of the cities of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad in October 2019, Turkey signed a ceasefire agreement with the Russian and American sides.

Since the beginning of April most villages in the town of Zarkan have witnessed intense Turkish bombardment, leading to a large wave of displacement and damage to the residents’ property.
