Russian warplanes conduct drills in north Syria’s Afrin

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Loud explosions made by Russian warplanes conducting military drills yesterday were heard in the city of Afrin and its outskirts in the north of Aleppo, north Syria.

A special source told North Press that two warplanes affiliated with the Russian air forces carried out several air raids in the skies of Afrin causing huge sounds that shook the region.

The explosion sound also caused public panic and power outage in the Turkish base in the west of Afrin.

The drills lasted for half an hour in conjunction with Russian aircrafts hovering near the Syrian-Turkish border in the north of Afrin, the source said.

Earlier, Russian airstrikes on Afrin neighborhoods have caused casualties as well as material damage.

In December 2021, the Russian warplanes carried out three airstrikes on the two villages of Jelbul and Basselhaya located in Basoufan area, south of Afrin.
