US voices concern by attacks against ENKS in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Yesterday Thursday, the US Embassy in the Syria’s capital Damascus voiced concern by the attacks that targeted headquarters of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) in cities in northeast Syria.

“The United States is deeply concerned by the recent attacks on several KNC offices in northeast Syria,” the Embassy tweeted on its official account.

“Intimidation and violence have no place in political discourse,” the Embassy added.

Additionally, it urged all parties to stay calm and “engage peacefully in pursuit of resolutions that benefit all concerned.”

During the past three days, offices of ENKS in Derbasiya, Hasakah and Kobani were set on fire by unidentified individuals amidst accusation by the council to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) to be behind the action; however, PYD released a statement denying being engaged in such action.

Setting ENKS’ offices on fire came in tandem with calls by US to resume the intra-Kurdish dialogue.
