Syria’s Hawl Camp records fourth crime since early April

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Yesterday at midnight, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria found an Iraqi refugee wounded in Hawl Camp east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, a security source from the camp said.

“The security forces found the Iraqi refugee in the first sector in the camp hit with five bullets,” the source added.

As a result, the Iraqi refugee was transferred to a hospital in Hasakah for treatment. As his fate has been unknown so far.

The source indicated that the crime was likely carried out by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells.

With this crime, the number of crimes reported in the camp since early April has mounted to four despite the heightened security measures.

The Hawl Camp, 40 kilometers east of Hasakah, is a house for 56,773 individuals numbering 15,431 families, 2,423 of which are families of the dead and detainees of the “ISIS” foreign descendant from over 60 countries, according to the recent obtained statistics.

The UN Special Representative, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, said in a conference in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on April 9, Hawl Camp in northeast Syria, “Hawl Camp is a ticking time bomb. If it goes off, it will impact not only the region but also far beyond.”

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) is concerned about the Hawl dilemma and always stresses the need for the foreign countries to repatriate their nationals family members of ISIS from camps in northeast Syria warning against the risk of keeping children in tough conditions receiving radical ideas.
