DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, two members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost their lives in attack by unknown gunmen on their checkpoint in a town north of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

“Unidentified gunmen attacked an SDF checkpoint at the entrance to al-Wahid village of the town of al-Sour, north of Deir ez-Zor, with machine guns ” a military source in SDF in the town of al-Sour, told North Press.

“The SDF checkpoint members clashed with the attackers for about 20 minutes, and as a result, two SDF members lost their lives,” the source added.

The gunmen, who were riding motorcycles and using Kalashnikovs, ran away after they ran out of ammunition,” the source said.

An hour later, ISIS, through media close to it, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Despite the intensive security operations launched by SDF, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed the increase in cases of killing of SDF members, Autonomous Administration employees, tribal dignitaries and civilians.

On April 18, ISIS claimed the killing of a young man in the town of al-Busayrah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor on the pretext of dealing with SDF.
