Causalities in mine explosion in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a child lost his life and five others were injured in an explosion of a detonator left behind by the government forces in the city of Daraa, south Syria.

The seven-year-old child, Rami Raed al-Rifa’i, lost his life and five others were wounded, as a result of a detonator left by the government forces in al-Dahiya neighborhood in Daraa, local sources told North Press.

The child al-Rifa’i and another child were transported to Damascus hospitals as they were seriously injured. However, al-Rifa’I lost his life while the other child lost one of his eyes, the sources said.

It’s worth noting that al-Dahiya neighborhood, in which the detonator exploded, is one of the neighborhoods that was never controlled by the opposition factions, and it is still under the control of government forces.

Local residents complain that  that government forces have not removed mines from the sites they withdrew from in Daraa governorate, despite the residents’ frequent requests to send specialized engineering teams to remove them.
