SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Roj Demining Organization (Ramco) said its team dismantled an IED that weighed 20kg in a farmland in the countryside of Abdan town, south of Hasakah, northeast Syria.
A source from the organization said they received a call from a civilian saying an explosive ordnance was placed in the farmland. Soon, the team headed to the scene to survey the area.
“The team combed an area of 740 m² of the farmland,” the source said.
“The IED was not damaged, rather it was stored in a special ammunition depot run by the organization to be damaged later,” the source said.
Ramco organization, is a local non-governmental, non-profit organization established in late 2016. It works in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. It is tasked to remove mines and remnants of war in northeast Syria and raise awareness of their dangers.
In September 2021, the organization damaged multiple unexploded remnants of war, including Katyusha rocket launchers and landmines, in a wild area in Hasakah southern countryside.
