Christians of Syria’s Hasakah celebrate Easter and Palm Sunday
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Christians in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, celebrated Easter and Palm Sunday.
Today, all the Eastern churches in the world are celebrating Palm Sunday, Maurice Amseh, Metropolitan of the Euphrates for the Syriac Orthodox, said.
Today, the Syriac Catholics and Armenians, who follow the Western calendar, celebrated Easter, while the Syriac Orthodox, who follow the Eastern calendar, celebrated Palm Sunday in the Syriac Orthodox Church of St. George.
Early this morning, celebrations began in the churches of Hasakah, Tel Tamr, Qamishli, the northern countryside of Aleppo and other areas, according to what was reported by North Press Agency.
On this occasion, Ghada Su’ani, a resident of Hasakah, congratulated the celebrants, wishing that peace would prevail in Syria again, saying that: “in the past, the atmosphere of this Day was more beautiful, but we will continue to revive our rituals.”
The young woman wished the expatriates, due to the Syrian war, would return to share with their families the joy of the holidays and celebrations.
