Government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Different areas in the de-escalation zones in northwest Syria witnessed on Saturday military escalation and exchange of shelling between the  government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions.

The opposition factions’ sites in the towns of al-Sarmania, Qalidin and al-Enkawi in the Ghab Plain area, in the western Hama countryside, were hit with heavy artillery and missiles by the government forces stationed in the Jurin camp, west of Hama, military sources in the opposition told North Press.

According to the sources, more than thirty artillery and rocket shells fell on the mentioned places.

Similarly, said the sources, the opposition factions’ sites in the town of al-Bara, south of Idlib, and the vicinity of the town of Ma’arat al-Naasan, north of Idlib, were hit with heavy artillery by the government forces.

Meanwhile, the positions of the Syrian government forces near the villages of al-Bureij and al-Jidar, in the southern countryside of Idlib, were hit with heavy artillery and missiles by al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room.

Al-Fateh Al-Mubin Operations Room also targeted, with mortar shells, the government forces’ positions near the town of Qabtan al-Jabal in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The de-escalation zones in the northwest of the country daily witness exchange of bombardment between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces, without any change in the field control map.
