Man killed in landmine explosion in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a person lost his life when a landmine left behind from the war exploded in his car in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

“The young man, Yasser Fahd al-Raja, lost his life in the blast of a landmine from the remnants of the war on the outskirts of the town of Khirbet Ghazaleh in the eastern countryside of Daraa,” a local source told North Press.

Al-Raja, a farmer from the village of al-Bower in the eastern countryside of Daraa, was driving his car on farmland, western Khirbat Ghazaleh, where there were formerly military points of the government forces.

Local residents complain that the government forces have not removed mines from the sites they withdrew from in Daraa governorate, despite the residents’ repeated requests to send specialized engineering teams to remove them.

Last week, the child, Tariq Adham al-Mahamid, lost his life when a landmine exploded on farmland on the outskirts of Umm al-Mayathen town in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
