Unidentified gunmen kill Syrian official in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The Secretary of the Ba’ath Party in Daraa, Farid al-Amarin, was killed on Tuesday west of Daraa, south Syria, after being targeted by unidentified gunmen.

Since the government forces took it over in 2018, Daraa has lived a state of insecurity as killings, thefts and kidnappings take place on a regular basis.

Al-Amarin was shot dead by unidentified gunmen riding motor bikes in Nawa city in Daraa governorate, according to a local source.

The source added that al-Amarin had close connections with many Syrian officers in the government security branches.

Al-Amarin assumed his position after the assassination of his predecessor, Selwan al-Gundi, in February 2020, the source said.
