Turkish Intelligence, SNA arbitrarily arrest people in Syria’s Afrin

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – In the past two days, the Turkish Intelligence arrested three people, including a lawyer, in different areas in Afrin countryside, north Syria.

Afrin city and its countryside, northern Syria, have been under the control of Turkey and the Turkish-backed opposition factions since 2018.

A local source told North Press that members of the Turkish Intelligence arrested Luqman Hassan, 47, a resident of a village in Rajo district, at the Azaz city entrance checkpoint, north of Aleppo, when he was going to mend his tractor.

“The reason behind the arrest was previous affiliations with The Autonomous Administration,” the source said.

The source added that the arrested person was taken to an unknown place, with no information about his fate yet.

In a similar event, members of the Turkish-backed Samarqand faction arrested the lawyer, Muhammad Nouri, 37, a resident of a village in Jindires district, after accusing him of previously doing Autonomous Administration compulsory military service. He was then taken to an unknown place.

The source pointed out that prior to the latest arrest, the lawyer had been arrested three times by the Turkish Intelligence and was only getting released after paying huge sums of money.

In the same context, the Military Police faction arrested Khalil Issa, 33, a resident of a village in Jindires district, after accusing him of doing guard shifts when the Autonomous Administration was in control of the region.

The Turkish-backed factions keep committing their systemic violations against the people of Afrin and its countryside including killing, arresting and plundering the people, as well as applying a demographic change to the region.
