Child loses his life in landmine explosion in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a child lost his life in the explosion of a landmine of remnants of war in the town of Umm al-Mayathen in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

“The child, Tariq Adham Mahamid, lost his life as a result of the explosion of a landmine in the town of Umm al-Mayathen in the eastern countryside of Daraa,” a local source told North Press.

When killed, the child was with his parents on farmland, east of the town, where the government forces had military sites.

Local residents complain that the government forces have left mines in the sites they withdrew from in Daraa governorate, despite the residents’ repeated requests to send specialized engineering teams to remove them.

In a similar incident last week, a young man lost one of his feet as a result of a landmine explosion while working on farmland land in al-Manshiya neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad.

The remnants of the war, which are widely spread throughout Syria, still pose a great danger to the lives of citizens.
