Russian aircraft bomb opposition’ sites in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, sites and fortifications of the Turkish-backed opposition factions, south of Idlib, northwest Syria, were bombed by Russian aircraft.
“A Russian warplane bombed the contact lines in the town of al-Fatira in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with three raids” a military source in the National Liberation Front told North Press.
The raids targeted locations in forests and on farmland. No information on casualties among civilians or militants were reported, amid intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the area, the source added.
The air raids came in tandem with artillery shelling by the government forces of the opposition factions’ sites in the towns of Kansafra, al-Bara, Benin, San and Fleifel in the southern countryside of Idlib.
Meanwhile, the government forces’ positions near the town of Jurin, west of Hama, were bombed by al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, according to the same source.
The government forces’ sites near the 46th Regiment in the western countryside of Aleppo, were also bombed by al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, the source said.
Despite the entry into force of the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, northwest Syria has been witnessing military escalation and mutual bombing between the government forces and the opposition factions for months.
