Turkish-backed faction arrests brothers in Syria’s Afrin

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish-backed Military Police faction arrested, yesterday, two brothers of a village affiliated with Rajo district in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo.

Members of the Military Police along with others belonging to the Turkish intelligence stormed the village of Mosaco and arrested the 55-year-old Hussein Qarah and his 60-year-old brother Hassan Qarah over charges of participating in ceremonies of mourning martyrs, who died during the Turkish invasion of Afrin in 2018, a local source told North Press.

The arrestees were accompanied to the factions’ headquarters in Rajo district and, so far, no information has been obtained regarding their fate, the source added.

Areas held by the Turkish-backed factions witness ongoing violations including arrest and systematic kidnapping targeting residents of Afrin and its countryside with the aim of material extortion and tighten the screw on them.

The Turkish forces and the affiliated factions have been running Afrin and its villages since 2018 following months of ongoing bombardment reporting civil casualties and displacing over 300,000 people.
