Turkey targets Syria’s Ain Issa with over 45 shells

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions shelled, yesterday, the countryside of Ain Issa town north of Raqqa, north Syria, with more than 45 shells.

The Turkish forces and the affiliated factions shelled the villages of Ma’laq, and Sayda, Ain Issa Camp and the M4 Highway north of Ain Issa, in a statement on its official Facebook account, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.

More than 45 artillery shells fell on the aforementioned villages in tandem with firing flare bombs, SDF added.

“SDF informed the guarantor parties about the violations committed in Ain Issa,” the statement read.

A Russian base and a point of the Syrian government forces are placed in Ain Issa as a guarantor for the ceasefire that has been signed since October 2019. In Ain Issa.

The shelling started at about 10:00 PM targeting villages only few kilometers from the town, an SDF military source present in the town told North Press.

The shelling was launched from two Turkish bases near the targeted villages northwest of Ain Issa in tandem with hovering of Turkish drones over the area, the source added.

As a result, material losses were reported to the residents properties, according to the source.

In the past four days, Ain Issa witnessed Turkish shelling targeted the northeastern countryside and the M4 Highway.

The town and other areas northeast Syria are subjected to ongoing Turkish shelling with the support of the affiliated factions.
