Government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The de-escalation zones in northwest of Syria witnessed on Wednesday exchange of shelling between the government forces and the Turkish-backed opposition factions.

“The government forces, stationed in the city of Kafr Nabl, bombed the opposition factions’ points in the towns of al-Fatira, Fleifel, Sufuhn and Harsh Benin, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and missiles,” opposition military sources told North Press.

The opposition factions’ sites near the towns of al-Enkawi and al-Sarmania, west of Hama, were also bombed by the government forces, but no casualties were reported, according to the same sources.

Furthermore, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room bombed the government forces’ points near the town of Dadikh, east of Idlib, with heavy artillery and missiles, the sources said.

Despite the entry into force of the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, northwest Syria has been witnessing military escalation and mutual bombing between the government forces and opposition factions for months.
