Asayish arrest weapon dealer in Syria’s Raqqa

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) said on Wednesday that they arrested an arms dealer in the town of al-Huzayma in the countryside of Raqqa city, northeast Syria.

After monitoring, investigation, and receiving information, the Anti-Organised Crime Forces of the Asayish carried out a raid operation on Tuesday, the official website of the Asayish said.

Weapons, ranging from Kalashnikovs, military pistols, detonators to detonating mines plus weapons and ammunition stores, were seized in the raid, it added.

“The dealer admitted to trading in the arms and selling them. He was consequently referred to the Prosecution Committee to complete the legal procedures with the seizures he had,” the Asayish website said.

At the end of last December, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces in northeast Syria revealed that 61 weapons-related cases had been registered during 2021.

168 pistols, 358 different pieces of weapons, 54 grenades and 1,324 bullets were seized.
