Intellectuals in Syria’s Qamishli launched a series of cultural activities   

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Rojavay Kurdistan Intellectuals Union (HRRK) in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, announced a series of literary, societal and humanitarian activities during April/Ramadan.

HRRK is a combination of Kurdish intellectuals, authors, poets and artists from regions of north and northeast Syria, where its main office is located in the city of Qamishli.

In a unique step, the HRRK launched a series of activities during April/Ramadan where it holds one every evening after the iftar, at about 8 pm. 

“We made a decision to hold activities from April 2 to April 30 after iftar,” said Ahmad Husseini, member of HRRK activities committee told North Press.

“We aim to develop and enhance the case of the Kurdish intellectuals to be able to illuminate some dark points,” Husseini said.

The series of the activities are called “Rojava Lanterns” where it include social, literary, cultural and awareness lectures.

“Every day we deal with a subject and we start discussing it,” said Mahmoud Suleiman, member of HRRK.

“We do not deal with political or living issues as they put stress on us,” he added

The general goal of these activities is to enhance cohesion among people, especially after Covid-19 pandemic, and to enrich culture, according to Husseini.
