Government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, separated areas in the de-escalation zones in northwest Syria witnessed renewed exchange of shelling between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
The Turkish-backed oppositions’ sites in the towns of al-Bara, Sufuhn and Fleifel, Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, were bombed by the government forces stationed at the surrounding checkpoints, military sources in the opposition factions told North Press.
The opposition factions’ positions near the towns Mukalibis and the outskirts of Ta’al in the western countryside of Aleppo, were also bombed by the government forces stationed in the 46th Regiment in the same area, the sources said.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted the positions of the Syrian government forces near Ain Issa and Jabal Abu Ali in the northern countryside of Latakia, with heavy artillery and missiles, North Press reported military sources.
Despite the entry into force of the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, northwest Syria has been witnessing military escalation and mutual bombing between the government forces and opposition factions for months.
