Five members of Turkish-backed faction injured in infighting in Syria’s Afrin

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Five members of the Turkish-backed Sham Legion faction were wounded on Tuesday evening as a result of violent infighting between two groups of the same faction in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo.

“Five members of the Turkish-backed Sham Legion faction were seriously wounded as a result of violent clashes between two groups of the faction in the town of Maidanki in the countryside of Afrin,” a special source told North Press.

“Violent clashes took place and all kinds of machine guns and mortars were used, while the cause of the infighting is still unknown,” the sources added.

“Several shells fell on residents’ homes, who called on the Military Police faction to intervene and resolve the dispute between the two groups,” according to the source.

“A group of the faction surrounded another group in one of the military sites in the town, amid random shooting,” the source said.

Background: The city of Afrin and its environs have been under the control of the Turkish-backed opposition factions since March 2018.

However, the areas under the control of the Turkish-backed factions have been witnessing a state of security chaos, amid explosions and continuous infighting among these factions.
