Government, opposition sporadically exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The de-escalation zones in Syria’s northwest witnessed on Sunday sporadic mutual shelling between the government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions

“The opposition factions’ sites in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Aweid, Sufuhn, Kansafra and the outskirts of Benin in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, were hit with heavy artillery and missiles by the government forces,” North Press reported military sources in the opposition.

“Similarly, the opposition factions’ sites near Jabal al-Akrad and other places in Jabal al-Turkmen, north Latakia, were bombed by the government forces,” the sources added.

Meanwhile, the government forces’ sites in the village of al-Malajah, south Idlib, plus sites in Sheikh Ali in Jabal al-Akrad, were hit with mortars by al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room,” military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.

Despite being included in the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, the areas of northwest Syria witness daily exchange of shelling between the government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions.
