Government forces intensively bomb opposition in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the de-escalation zones in Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria, witnessed mutual shelling between Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces, amid intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the region.

“The Syrian government forces bombed the opposition factions’ site in the villages of al-Fatira, Kafr Owed, Sufuhn, Fleifel, Deir Sunbul, Benin and al-Ruwaiha in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with artillery and missiles ” military sources in the opposition told North Press.

“The government forces stationed in the 46th Regiment also targeted, with heavy artillery, the opposition factions’ in the towns of Kafr Noran, Kafr Amma, and the villages of Taqad and Kafr Ta’al, west of Aleppo,” the sources added.

Responding to the government forces’ shelling, l-Fateh l-Mubin Operations Room announced targeting the government forces’ sites in the villages of Miznaz, Jadraya, Kafr Halab, and the 46th Regiment, west of Aleppo, with mortars and Katyusha rockets. It also bombed the government forces’ sites in the town of Kafruma, south of Idlib, with artillery shells, according to the sources.

The mutual shelling between the two sides of the conflict coincided with intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the sky of the targeted areas and the border areas with Turkey, North Press reported some sources.

It is noteworthy that the areas of northwest Syria have been witnessing for months military escalation and continuous exchange of shelling between Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces.
