Floating back again, Turkish-backed faction abuses Syria’s Afrin people
ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Members of the Turkish-backed Sultan Suleiman Shah Division (al-Amshat) raided, on Friday, three villages in Afrin’s countryside, north of Aleppo, after some villagers filled a complaint against some shepherds, who are under the division’s protection.
In mid-March, al-Amshat Division, which is led by Muhammad Jassim “Abu Amsha”, and his brothers, backed to action again in Sheikh al-Hadid district.
On February 22nd, an investigation committee made several decisions against the division including charging its leader and his two brothers, in addition to those close to him with corruption, and they were exiled from Afrin.
A local source told North Press that members of the division raided the three villages in Sheikh al-Hadid district and started shooting indiscriminately in order to terrorize the residents and prompt them to withdraw the complaint.
Earlier, people of these villages filed a complaint to the Turkish-backed Military Police in Afrin against some shepherds protected by the division for tending sheep in the complainants’ lands in Sheikh al-Hadid, according to the source.
The source added that the division’s members assaulted those who didn’t comply and refused to withdraw the complaint.
Sultan Suleiman Shah Division controls all of Sheikh al-Hadid district and its countryside amid regular violations committed by its leaders and members.
The city of Afrin and its countryside have been under the control of Turkey and the Turkish-backed factions since March 2018.
