QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Days ago, Ilham Ahmad, president of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) met with a US high ranking diplomatic delegation including officials of the US State of Department, and discussed the current political situation at the local, regional and international levels.
The two parties discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on the current situation in Syria in general and NE Syria in particular.
They also stressed the need to start a political solution in Syria based on UN Resolution 2254, and that the political solution that guarantees the democratic transition and fair representation for all Syrians, and achieving security and stabilization, which prevents the terrorist organization ISIS from reviving, especially after the killing of its leader.
They also talked about the importance of the participation of representatives of all Syrian parties in the international platforms to solve the Syrian crisis.
The US diplomatic delegation praised the great efforts of the SDC in the Intra-Syrian talks and the talks between the local parties in northeast Syria.
The US delegation included Ethan Goldrich, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Jennifer Gavito, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq, Zehra Bell, Director of the Syria and Iraq issue at the National Security Council, and Matthew Pearl, US State Department representative in NE Syria.
The delegation met with members of SDC Presidential Council, including Ali Rahmoun, Janda Muhammad, Amjad Othman and Thabet al-Jawhar.
On Monday, the US State Department of Near Eastern Affairs announced on twitter that Jennifer Gavito and Zehra Bell met with officials of SDF and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC).
