Iraqi refugees leave Syria’s AANES areas for Iraq
AL-YARUBIYAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, hundreds of Iraqi refugees left the Autonomous Administration areas, heading for their areas in Iraq.
Following the ISIS attack on Mosul and the Sinjar District in Iraq in 2014 and 2015, many residents fled to the Autonomous Administration areas.
The departure came at the request of the Iraqi government. The Iraqi refugees were handed over by the Administration to the Iraqi government through the Yarubiyah/Tal Kojer crossing, under the supervision of the UNHCR.
It should be noted that most of these families come from the city of Mosul and its countryside as well as the Sinjar district in the Iraqi governorate of Nineveh.
