Mosque Imam seizes 8 houses of Syria’s Afrin residents
ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – A mosque preacher (Imam), who is one of those who were brought from other Syrian regions to Afrin, north of Aleppo, seized on Sunday eight homes belonging to the city’s original residents.
“The so-called Muhammad Hanoura from Mayer village, north of Aleppo, a preacher in the mosque of Tiranda village in Afrin, seized eight homes belonging to the original residents,” a local source told North Press.
The houses seized by Hanoura are located in Ashrafiya neighborhood, Sherawa and the village of Tiranda, the sources added.
Hanoura lives in one of those houses that he seized, and he rents the rest of the houses to settlers in Afrin.
Since March 2018, Afrin and its countryside have been under the control of Turkey and the affiliated opposition factions. More than 300,000 residents of the area have been displaced, according to human rights organizations.
