Government forces’ helicopter crashed, two pilots killed in Syria’s Lattakia
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A helicopter of the government forces was crashed and two of its crew were killed in the countryside of Lattakia, north Syria, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced Thursday.
The ministry said in a post on Facebook: “During the implementation of a training mission this morning for one of the Syrian Arab Army’s helicopters over the coastal area, the helicopter had a technical failure, forcing the plane’s crew to make an emergency landing in a rugged mountainous area.”
Consequently, two pilots were killed, while the three others were survived, it added.
State-run media said that a helicopter of the government forces crashed after falling into farmland due to a technical malfunction over the village of al-Ruwaymiyah in the countryside of Lattakia.
“Two crew members were killed immediately after the plane crashed, while two other officers were taken to the hospital and are currently being treated,” it said.
