SDF provides relief aid to people affected by ISIS attack in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Hasakah Council committees distributed aid and foodstuffs to those affected, as a result of the clashes that took place between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS cells and detainees in neighborhoods surrounding al-Sina’a prison.

A few days ago, the SDF handed relief aid to the Hasakah Council to be distributed to the affected residents in the neighborhoods of Ghweran, al-Nashwa and al-Zuhour, south of the city, through the council of the southern district of Hasakah city.

“Food supplies provided by  SDF have started to be distributed to the residents of neighborhoods that witnessed clashes between SDF and ISIS militants,” Farouk Tozo, deputy co-chair of the Hasakah Council, told North Press.

“The distribution mechanism is carried out through councils and communes in the affected neighborhoods, such as al-Nashwa, al-Zuhour and Ghweran, after verifying that these residents were affected,” he added.

This aid is provided by SDF to alleviate the suffering of the population during this difficult period, Tozo said.

Last January, residents of the neighborhoods surrounding al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah were forced to flee as a result of the clashes that took place between SDF and ISIS militants following the latter’s attack on al-Sina’a prison which houses thousands of ISIS extremist detainees.

Local parties and donors provided some necessary items such as bread and blankets to the population, in the absence of the role of humanitarian organizations and United Nations partners to provide aid to the population.
