Supporting AANES against terrorism is a must, Syria’s Deir ez-Zor dignitaries

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) –  Tribal figures of the countryside of Deir ez-Zor city, east Syria, called for the need to support the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in order to prevent the repetition of the scenario of Guweiran prison break in Hasakah.

In early February, the AANES called on the international community and the US-led Global Coalition to move to a new stage and work with the AANES and its security forces to prevent the repetition of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) attacks and ensure the sustainable defeat of terrorism.

The AANES stressed that the issue of ISIS members and their families in northeast Syria is “dangerous and complicated” and is also a matter of interest to the  international community. This issue transcends the capability and capacity of the AANES.

Salah al-Salman, the official spokesman of al-Bukamal tribal council of Deir ez-Zor countryside, said the international community has to support the AANES in a serious way in order to immune and fortify the detention centers that hold ISIS inmates as well as create a safe  environment free from terrorism.

The AANES is in the crosshairs of the regional powers which try “to impose the policy of fait accompli on it and curb its role,” he told North Press.

Al-Salman stressed the necessity to “stand shoulder to shoulder with the AANES and provide every possible support to fight terrorism.”

“The recent event in Hasakah showed how the AANES lost hundreds of martyrs in fighting terrorism in the region,” al-Salman said.

He called on the Global Coalition and the United Nations to find immediate and radical solutions to repatriate non-Syrian nationals of ISIS inmates in northeast Syria to their origin countries.

“The international community should guarantee the people their freedom and to settle safety in the region.”

Thabit al-Hamada, one of the dignitaries in al-Gharanij town, 90 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said the US-led Global Coalition bears responsibility over the incidents in Hasakah city.

The next stage needs extra effort as the regional powers are watching to thwart the project of the AANES by moving their proxies inside and outside the region,  according to  al-Hamada.

All the clans in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor defy altogether any presence of ISIS in the region, he added.

ISIS organization has no incubator in the region. Locals here has never forgotten ISIS crimes.

Al-Hamada confirmed that tribal leaders as well as the domestic people reject the presence or the support of terrorism. The people are ready to counter any attempts aiming to spread chaos.

The recent events in Hasakah are but plots planned by other countries to breakdown and collapse the AANES-held regions, according to al-Hamada.

On January 20, ISIS member cells attacked al-Sina’a prison in Guweiran neighborhood in Hasakah city. The prison holds thousands of ISIS hardline detainees.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) repelled attack in the vicinity of the prison for seven days.
