SDF arrests ISIS suicide cell in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested yesterday a suicide cell of ISIS in the town of Dhiban, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

“Two ISIS terrorists wearing explosive belts for carrying out terrorist acts in the town of Dhiban were arrested by SDF,” the SDF Media Center said in statement released yesterday.

“One of the terrorists comes from Iraq while the other is from Turkistan,” the center said.

“Weapons, ammunition and communication devices that ISIS terrorists has, were seized, in addition to documents confirming their arrival from safe shelters run by Turkey,” the SDF added.

After receiving accurate intelligence information about the presence of two suicide bombers with automatic weapons inside an abandoned house in the neighborhood of al-Latwa in the center of Dhiban town, the SDF-affiliated Hajin Military Council forces raided the neighborhood, North Press reported an SDF military source.

The house was besieged and the two terrorists were arrested, the source added.

Following Hasakah’s al-Sina’a prison attack, the SDF has intensified their security operations in the areas of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. About 25 ISIS militants have been arrested since the beginning of this year.

In a security operation in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the SDF arrested five wanted people on charges of belonging to ISIS two days ago.
