Public calls to resume protests in Syria’s Suwayda
Suwayda, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, residents of Syria’s southern city of Suwayda renewed calls to resume anti-government protests on the wake of the recent decisions to lift subsidy from the ration cards for a wide range of people.
An activist of Nimrah village, in the eastern countryside of Suwayda, told North Press that local people will block the routes leading to Suwayda tomorrow.
“The protests will be peaceful to defend the living,” the activist said. He pointed that the protestors will not block the way to students nor the emergency cases.
On Thursday, widespread of protests were staged in Suwayda where the protesters closed the Suwayda-Damascus Highway and the roads leading to the southern countryside in response to the recent decisions to lift the government subsidy.
