US has no information about reprisals by ISIS, Pentagon spokesman
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The US does not currently have any information about any reprisal by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) to carry out in response to the recent elimination of the ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, also known as Hajji Abdullah, Pentagon spokesman, John Kirby, said Thursday.
Kirby said to CNN’s broadcast yesterday that they always follow urgently the threats issued by ISIS and that by now they have no evidence of a retaliatory strike in the near future, “but we are following it closely.”
He noted that the US is doing everything possible to ensure its security and the security of its allies and partners.
He stressed as saying, “ISIS is a group that reconstitute it strength wants to continue to attack to kill, maim and terrorize. They remain dangerous a threat to our national security and to the lives of other innocents.”
Yesterday, Thursday, the White House press office published a written statement by US President Joe Biden in which he said that the US armed forces conducted a successful counter-terrorism operation in northwestern Syria.
The operation resulted in the elimination of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi.
US intelligence reported that al-Qurayshi was heading the organization after the killing of its former leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in October 2019.
