Syria’s Raqqa tribes show support for SDF against Turkey
AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – Tribal sheikhs and dignitaries of Tel Abyad area and its countryside, north of Raqqa, northern Syria, reiterated on Thursday their support for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in standing up to the Turkish state and the affiliated opposition factions.
A statement issued by the tribes of Tel Abyad said that the Turkish violations and continuous bombardment of the area aim to cause discord among the residents of northeast Syria.
The statement was read by Sheikh Hamad al-Qarajah, the notable of the Albu Assaf tribe, on the behalf of the sheikhs and dignitaries of Tel Abyad and its countryside in front of the Tel Abyad Council building in the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.
The statement stressed the tribes’ adherence to and support for the Autonomous Administration and the SDF “in the face of the Turkish occupier and attempts to cause discord and undermine stability in the region.”
The statement noted to the importance of cooperation with the Autonomous Administration and working with determination and striving to “rebuild Syria, restore the occupied areas (Ras al-Ain, Tel Abyad and Afrin), defeat the occupation from Syrian territory, dismantle ISIS sleeper cell networks, and unite ranks in the face of the Turkish aggression.”
