White House announces the killing of ISIS top leader
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the US President, Joe Biden announced the killing of Abu Ibrahim al-Qurayshi, the leader of ISIS in northwest Syria.
In the early hours on Thursday morning, the US Department of Defense (DoD) declared its special forces carried out a widespread raid in Syria’s northwest city of Idlib.
“Last night at my direction, U.S. military forces in the northwest Syria successfully undertook a counterterrorism operation to protect the American people and our Allies, and make the world a safer place,” the US President, Joe Biden said in a statement.
“Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, we have taken off the battlefield Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi—the leader of ISIS,” he announced.
“The mission was successful. There were no U.S. casualties. More information will be provided as it becomes available,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby had earlier said in a statement.
